Hard on the outside, soft on the inside. Since its foundation in 2008, DAHU has revolutionised the classic ski boot with a focus on quality and comfort. The company is now based in Puidoux in the canton of Vaud and produces its shoes by hand in Italy. We met Office Manager Romain Oguey for an interview. He tells us how he developed his passion and what challenges the young entrepreneur faces on a daily basis.

Where does this passion for your job come from?

To begin with, I love the dynamic and challenging start-up environment. Every new idea can be expressed and supported, the whole team shares the same enthusiasm for this entrepreneurial adventure, which makes for a very stimulating working environment. I am also passionate about winter sports. This activity is synonymous with well-being and sporting pleasure. This shared passion therefore permeates all exchanges with customers and partners.

As an entrepreneur, what are the challenges you face on a daily basis?

Our limited resources make it difficult to compete with oligopolistic competitors. We need to innovate in every aspect of the business to establish our place in the market. This agility has enabled us to do well over the last two years, particularly in the face of the COVID-19 crisis. Thanks to our reactivity and adaptability, we have been able to secure our production lines and logistics, and thus ensure 100% of our deliveries.

What do you think about the authorities providing digital and consolidated administrative procedures on a single platform?

This simplification of procedures allows us to optimise the use of our resources, freeing up time to concentrate on other aspects of the business. The centralisation of all services through EasyGov also allows for better monitoring of administrative activities.

What are the next steps for DAHU?

We are in a phase of rapid development in international markets, so the new projects are focused on developing the US, China and European markets. In terms of products, we have collaborations with renowned designers who bring a fashionable side never seen before in ski boots.
