EasyGov 2.0: Strategic redesign
The EasyGov online counter is to be given a new IT architecture from 2027. Technologies will be used to enable the partner authorities to autonomously integrate processes into EasyGov in the future.
The federal government is seeking to boost digitalisation with the Business Relief Act. In particular, it wants to expand the range of digital government services available for businesses on EasyGov.swiss, the central online portal. The focus here is not only on making processes digital, but also on simplifying them and ensuring they are more in line with users’ needs. Public authorities partnering with EasyGov will also be more closely integrated in the specialist processes.
A study on the architectural and organisational redesign of EasyGov was launched in 2023, in anticipation of the Business Relief Act. The new legislation will bring a vast increase in the number of government processes to be integrated. However, the current IT architecture is not conducive to speeding up the integration of new government processes to any significant extent. The study therefore reviewed the portal’s organisation and architecture and established a roadmap for its long-term strategic redesign (EasyGov 2.0). For example, the study concludes that EasyGov 2.0 should use new technologies to allow partner authorities to integrate processes into EasyGov by themselves. Partner authorities will therefore act as the contracting party for specialist processes, whereas SECO will mainly assume this role for core development. The specialist modules are to be implemented in parallel and primarily in a decentralised manner on the basis of a low-code development platform. In order to achieve this goal, the programme organisation needs to be redesigned with the involvement of the partner authorities. This requires a reorganisation towards a state-of-the-art microservice architecture and the use of a low-code development platform. The initialization phase was completed at the end of August 2024, followed by the concept phase (including procurement) by the end of 2025 and implementation in 2026. The deployment phase of EasyGov 2.0 is expected at the beginning of 2027.
Launched in late 2017, EasyGov currently offers businesses access to 55 government services from various federal and cantonal authorities. Around 100,000 businesses are registered on the portal.
