EasyGov is valued by companies – redesign to deliver greater impact
The University of St Gallen published in August a new periodic Use Assessment Study of the EasyGov electronic platform on behalf of the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO). The results clearly show that EasyGov saves Swiss SMEs a considerable amount of time and money.
EasyGov is the central digital point of contact for companies dealing with public authorities. Since its launch in 2017, more than 180,000 companies have registered with the platform –more than a quarter of all businesses in Switzerland.
EasyGov is a well-established tool designed to ease the administrative burden on Swiss SMEs. Use assessment studies are carried out on a regular basis to measure the platform’s benefits and impact. This study covers the period from its launch in 2017 to 2025.
High user satisfaction and strong impact
The study shows that users are highly satisfied with the service. Overall, the EasyGov platform is regarded as functional and useful, with users citing round-the-clock availability, access via a single account and the scope of services on offer as the platform’s strengths.
EasyGov has been shown to deliver efficiency gains for companies. Users report smoother administrative processes, as well as time and cost savings. For each service processed via the platform, companies save, on average, around one hour of working time, as well as approximately CHF 125 in external costs. This results in an average total benefit of around CHF 190 per service. Since EasyGov was launched in November 2017, the added value generated has amounted to around CHF 46.9 million.
Greater benefits for companies and public authorities through the redesign
As part of the strategic redesign project (EasyGov 2.0), the platform will be upgraded and further developed to better serve the needs of companies. The new technological infrastructure will enable public authorities to digitalise their services more efficiently and make them available on the platform more quickly. In the medium term, this will mean the following for companies:
- access to more digital public services in one place
- simpler and more streamlined administrative procedures
- reduced administrative burden and thus cost savings.
The redesign paves the way for EasyGov’s continued growth as a shared infrastructure for the federal government, cantons, cities and communes. In particular, it facilitates the implementation of the requirements of the Business Cost Relief Act (BCRA), the aim of which is to simplify administrative procedures for companies.
Timetable
The EasyGov 2.0 project started in 2022 and moved into the concept phase in 2024. The implementation phase was approved in mid-2026. EasyGov 2.0 is expected to go live in autumn 2027.
